GOD this was endless to paint, but it's been worth every minute because i'm in love with the result!!! Since Mew was said to be the first pokemon, we could say he is the pokemon's Adam
I thought a million things while paintintg this, here's a random selection:>
I love Arceus' design and shapes... it expresses magnificently god-like attributes, but its design stays neat, simple and minimal. Really, i liked it before, but now i love it.>
Palkia would have been Michelangelo's favourite pokèmon.. its design perfectly fits into Michelangelo's style.. he used to paint monumental and bulky figures which showed the powerful strength of its characters, and he was influenced by greek classicism = Palkia, just perfect for him >
I'm pleased of how Mew's tail came out... i wanted to mirror the arch of Arceus' mantle and i think i got it.
It wasn't easy but I tried to imitate as much as possible the effect of a fresco painting, so i used only wet media brushes since frescos are made by painting directly on wet walls.
I have lived all my childhood and the most beautiful years of my life in Italy, so this was an homage to that wonderful country.. Yay for renaissance!
I think i can easily say that this is my favorite pokemon artwork among my other doodles
Edit: More saturated colours.. the original Creation of Adam is very desaturated, but i realized that a pkmn artwork needs very bright coloursss
